Meet Vanessa Bergeron, an experienced and compassionate mental health therapist with over 13 years of experience as a registered social worker (RSW). Her social work expertise includes mental health therapy (in both rural and urban settings), group facilitation, community psychoeducation, health system navigation, and outreach work. Vanessa’s journey into the mental health domain is rooted in the education and training she received from the graduate School of Social Work at the University of British Columbia (Okanagan Faculty).
Vanessa is committed to ethical practice, adhering to the social work code of ethics and regulatory bodies. She values the emphasis of the social work profession in considering the complex effects of discrimination, economic hardships, and oppression on human behaviour. Vanessa strives to provide therapy to individuals using an anti-oppressive lens and ecological model to understand health and wellness.
Vanessa has expertise in providing treatment for a variety of mental health disorders, including those with symptoms of anxiety, depression, emotion regulation difficulties and interpersonal problems. In her professional capacity she has effectively worked with children, youth and adults aged 5 to 105. She has utilized Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). She has a particular interest in working with adults experiencing emotion regulation difficulties that may benefit from acceptance and change based therapy, such as DBT.
Vanessa's dedication extends beyond individual therapy sessions to advocacy and leadership in volunteer positions within Regina and Canada. In her “free” time, she enjoys parenting her 2 young children alongside her partner, while making attempts to have hobbies such as mountain biking and creating.
